Art & Archives: Dave McClinton and Veronica Ceci in Conversation – view recording

Art & Archives is a program series hosted by Archivists of Central Texas (ACT) that provides a space for local artists to come together in conversation with archives and library professionals to explore how their practice engages with archival materials and historical narratives.

The series of programs is sponsored by The Summerlee Foundation.

About the Artists:

Dave McClinton is an emerging artist who began exhibiting his personal work in 2015. McClinton combines his love of photography, art and graphic design to create works that speak to the viewer by communicating a personal perspective of Black Culture. Providing imagery and space for stories about the strengths and trials of the African-American community is a big part of McClinton’s motivation.

Veronica Ceci is a Queer intermedia artist based in Austin, TX. She is known for portraiture and public artworks focusing on forgotten histories. The artist makes undervalued labor conspicuous through intense materiality, repetition, iconography and lived performance. Ceci’s pieces have been in exhibitions at prestigious institutions such as the Cleveland Museum of Art and are held in many collections including the Library of Congress.

About the Moderator:

Aaron Goldman is a socially engaged multi-disciplinary artist, educator, and organizer that works as a Program Specialist at the Austin Public Library. His efforts support a variety of art and learning initiatives—collectives, cooperatives, and grassroots organizations that focus on social, economic, and environmental justice.
